The Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president, Bambol Tolentino, confirmed that the Philippines will be sending 905 athletes to Cambodia and intends to participate in all 38 sports. This will be the second-largest athlete delegation from the Philippines in the history of the SEA Game. In 2019, it was 1,115 athletes. Preparation and training for the big event of the actual competition begin months or even years in advance. Filipino athletes began extensive training for the Southeast Asian Games 2023 to make sure they are in peak shape when it is game time, athletes engage in intense training, conditioning, and competition in their sports.
A holistic strategy that addressed all of the athlete’s demands was used to prepare Filipino athletes for the Southeast Asian Games 2023. Filipino athletes are prepared to proudly and honourably represent their country at future games with the right planning, training, and support.
The nation is aiming to surpass, if not exactly replicate, its fourth-place showing in the 2018 Hanoi Vietnam Games, where it collected 52 gold, 70 silver, and 104 bronze medals. However, they are aware of the difficulties they would face due to the host nation’s contentious regulations.
Filipino athletes are expected to give their best and display the values of true sportsmanship, excellence, and teamwork. They are not only competing for themselves but also for the pride of the country and the Filipino people. With the right mindset and preparation, Filipino athletes are poised to make the country proud in the upcoming Southeast Asian Games 2023.

On 5 May 2023, the opening ceremony for the SEA games will take place, however, due to the tight schedule, the cricket and football tournaments will commence one week earlier, on 29 April 2023.
