It’s kinda weird to yearn for pork barbecue when Roxas is the Seafood Metropolis of the Philippines, but what can you do? I’ve found superb seafood as well in Iloilo City and Bacolod City, but the fact is that Bitoy’s pork barbecue is the best I’ve ever tasted.
They didn’t restrict on the meat; even one stick could make you full already. It’s also very delicious and tender. The best thing, however, is the amount: a single stick costs just about P25.00 (about $0.60)! Everything that I’d eaten in Roxas faded in contrast to this value-for-money food.
As stated by Rowena Conlu, co-owner of Bitoy’s, the Grand Gazebo, and Jacque’s Coffee and Chills on the other side of the road, the sauce was her mother-in-law’s recipe. The latter established the business in the early 90s and it just developed. The barbecue, however, wasn’t the only thing that will make your stay in Roxas a very cozy one. You would be hosted by the Grand Gazebo Events Place and Dormitel for a few days and you will be glad to have picked it as your starting point during your Philippines travel.
The resort is just on the other side of the road from Baybay Beach, a famous spot for tourists on their Philippine holiday and for natives as well. Bordering the seven-kilometer spread are plenty of restaurants normally providing seafood choices.
The Grand Gazebo is famous as an events venue. Its large pavilion could hold nearly 400 people and people reserve it (they have reservations almost every day!) for weddings, birthdays, acquaintance parties, anniversaries, and seminars. Tinier groups of 30 to 80 people could also be held in a tinier hall. And if you want to get married here, they also offer an open-air church.
What you will love the best about the Grand Gazebo is its rooms. The room are large, with a king-sized bed, a small sofa and table, minibar, cable TV, free breakfast, and best of all, Wi-Fi access in the room. It surely is your type of room.
It is so cozy staying there that you would have to make appointments to meet with Couchsurfing people, and tourists on Philippine holidays here will definitely want to just stay inside and relish their holiday in Roxas.
Breakfast is also okay. Tourists have it in Jacque’s Coffee, selecting from a menu there which would then be sent to Bitoy’s across the road. What tourists will love, is the ca phe sau da (Vietnamese coffee). At just P60, it is a good deal indeed.
Travellers would also have the opportunity to meet the staff, and you will be amazed that some of them have been working there since the 1970s. I think that only proficient and kind employers are able to keep such faithful employees.
So if you’re searching for a place to stay in Roxas City during your Philippine holidays that’s just a few paces away from the beach, with very helpful and friendly staff, simple entry to great dining choices, and just a tricycle rides from downtown (costing: P10), think about the Grand Gazebo. There’s nothing more greeting in the Seafood Metropolis of the Philippines.
